The Humbled and Exalted Christ

^5 (A)Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, ⁶ who, ^(B)being in the form of God, did not consider it ^[a]robbery to be equal with God, ^7 (C)but ^[b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form ^(D)of a bondservant, and ^(E)coming in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and ^(F)became ^(G)obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. ^9 (H)Therefore God also ^(I)has highly exalted Him and ^(J)given Him the name which is above every name, ^10 (K)that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, ¹¹ and ^(L)that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

²⁶ Then God said, ^(A)“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; ^(B)let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over ^[a]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Lying to the Holy Spirit

5 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. ² And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. ^3 (A)But Peter said, “Ananias, why has ^(B)Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?

¹⁹ Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, ^(A)the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

⁵⁰ And ^(A)I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges.

¹⁰ Do you not believe that ^(A)I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you ^(B)I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

²⁸ Come to ^(A)Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take My yoke upon you ^(B)and learn from Me, for I am ^[a]gentle and ^(C)lowly in heart, ^(D)and you will find rest for your souls. ^30 (E)For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

Humility Cures Worldliness

⁷ Therefore submit to God. ^(B)Resist the devil and he will flee from you. ^8 (C)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ^(D)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and ^(E)purify your hearts, you double-minded. ^9 (F)Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. ^10 (G)Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

The Son Exalted Above Angels

⁵ For to which of the angels did He ever say:

And again:

⁶ But when He again brings ^(C)the firstborn into the world, He says:

⁷ And of the angels He says:

⁸ But to the Son He says:

¹⁰ And:

¹³ But to which of the angels has He ever said:

^14 (M)Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will ^(N)inherit salvation?
